A PDO threads Lift is a procedure that uses a dissolvable suture to tighten and lift your skin. It’s a less invasive procedure than facelift surgery and can often be performed in under 45 Minutes without needing to go under a scalpel.
Polydioxanone (PDO) thread lifts use a biodegradable polyester suture. They’re best suited for rejuvenating your skin while some newer types of thread lift are better at lifting sagging skin.
Let’s take a look at what makes a PDO thread lift different from a MINT threads lift and what you can expect during the procedure at our Stony Brook office.

PDO Threads, or Polydioxanone threads, are a type of non-surgical skin tightening procedure that involves the use of threads made of a biodegradable material to lift and tighten sagging skin. The thread lift are inserted under the skin using a fine needle and then pulled tight to lift the skin. Over time, the threads stimulate the production of collagen, which helps to further tighten the skin and maintain the lifted appearance. The procedure is minimally invasive and can be performed in a doctor's office or clinic with minimal downtime. The results can last for several months to a couple of years, depending on the individual's skin quality, age, and other factors.
MINT threads (Micro-invasive Non-surgical Thread) are similar to PDO threads (Polydioxanone) in that they are both minimally invasive skin tightening procedures that use thread lift correct sagging skin. However, there are some differences between the two types of threads:
MINT threads are made of polylactic acid (PLA), which is a biodegradable and biocompatible material, while PDO threads are made of polydioxanone
MINT threads are designed to provide longer-lasting results compared to PDO threads, as the polylactic acid takes longer to break down and stimulates a stronger collagen response. PDO threads typically last for 6-8 months.
MINT threads are inserted using a micro-injection technique, which is less invasive compared to the needle insertion technique used for PDO threads.
Mint threads are typically used for larger areas of skin laxity and can provide more dramatic results compared to PDO threads which are typically used on the face
